About Schwarz Decorating

Klaus Schwarz is the founder and co-owner of Schwarz Decorating. He apprenticed with a master painter trained in Germany.

Kurt Schwarz is co-owner of Schwarz Decorating and a 3rd generation painter.

 

 

 

The Schwarz Family Legacy

Our family legacy in the painting business started in Germany in 1954. Klaus' uncle, Herb Merz, trained to be a master craftsman in the manner of the Guilds of Old Europe. On his arrival in America in 1962 the skills he learned were quickly put to good use establishing a high end painting company in Syracuse NY. Along with Herb's son, he also trained 2 other family members and 3 other men that became skilled career painters. Klaus was one of the family apprentices.

To avoid competing against family, Klaus moved to Rochester and started Schwarz Decorating in the spring of 1982. Over the past 30 years, Klaus too has trained men that went on to be career painters. All told our family presently has 6 members actively in the painting business in the Upstate NY area and over 12 other men we trained that are also actively painting. In that group Kurt is one of three 3rd generation family members to carry on the family vocation.

Like all family members now painting Kurt got his start early on. He was out there full time during all of his high school summer vacations. In doing so he too acquired the work ethic we so cherish. It was Kurt's decision to continue Schwarz Decorating as he graduated from High School. After High School Kurt went on to get a business degree at Finger Lakes Community College and now is working side by side in running the business and taking charge of long term goals.

For over 30 years Schwarz Decorating has provided Greater Rochester with the exceptional results. Starting with the bare essentials; a phone answering machine and a truck of equipment, we have grown into an operation that handles the complicated and involved projects designers and homeowners envision. All projects are welcome. No job is too small or too large for our team to handle. We complete the smallest of powder rooms and closets to projects as big as churches and commercial office buildings.
